I got this ridiculous unresolved problem with #meshtastic Randomly solar nodes stop working and microcontroller doesnt work unless reset. Battery is fine and being charged ok so might be firmware issue. There’s issue on github but it’s unresolved. So i’m thinking of hooking ds3231 rtc module and program an allarm to trigger reset of meshtastic micro. It’s a hack but should work.

I’m not sure why #iTerm fucks up the sessions and the key codes every now and then. This is suppose to be Ctrl-x for exiting Nano/Pico on MacOs. If i restart the terminal/session it would work ok. anyone else experiencing the same?

I'm going to try something as workaround for (still) lack of iOS app for #reticulum messaging app. I’m porting the existing Micropython port to WebAssembly. The plan is to make it work as progressive app on your iPhone e.g load from a website, create your id hash, save it locally and connect to a TCP interface, then “make it app” as icon on your home screen. Theoretically it should work.

Right. The #micropython #reticulum port is getting actually quite usable. With addinng direct link messaging and file transfers, we can actually:

1. Put a stand alone #nomadnet page on an esp32s3 microcontroller,
2. Connect some sensors to it and put it into a solar powered enclosure
3. Fire up the LoRa radio chip
4. Put it up somewhere on a high tree

and you can serve information pages with files (even camera pictures or sound recordings) and live sensor data over LoRa purely off grid!

I need volunteers for a test. I’m hosting #nomadnet #reticulum page on my experimental micropython esp32s3 node. Could you connect with nomadnet capable browser (MeshChat would do fine) with a tcp interface to rn.varnatransport.com:4243 and see if you can load the page? On the page there’s a link with mp3 - easter egg message (2kb) 😁 The page is hosted on the esp32s3 itself (below). I’ll leave the node online for few hours to see if it’s stable with more than one link (me).

Damn! This guy did quite a good job for porting self contained #reticulum LXMF messaging on t-deck in c++. This should be much speedier than my project. https://github.com/ratspeak/ratdeck One thing though - mine is easily customizable because it’s micropython - just change the code upload the file and you’re ready to go. With his, on the other hand, you could just flash the firmware and you should be ready to go. I’ll try it and report my findings.

Now that I have basic #reticulum features on #micropython, should we add some oled output? 😁 Also, I’m thinking of some basic GUI for my T-deck, for LXMF node (send and receive). That would be glorious! I have played before with micropython and T-deck’s LoRa, so I just need to get the screen and keyboard libraries from it. After some more testing, I could load #nomadnet #reticlum page over LoRa. The page is hosted directly on the esp32s3. I made also dynamic loading of the bmp280 sensor data 😄 If you just run normal node, the example node responds to “sensor” keyword and echoes back the sensor data. So either works fine on all three tested interfaces - TCP, UDP and LoRa (Rnode).

Now it’s quite easy to hook bme280 via i2c and show sensor data on #reticulum #nomadnet page, just using standalone esp32. No additional hardware needed. The page is served off the esp32 with #micropython

Micropython #reticulum is progressing nicely. I've just added:

1. Transport mode - routing packets between enabled interfaces
2. TCP client interface

I’ve tested sending announcements from laptop via UDP and TCP and I can see on the SDR the packets being re-transmitted over the LoRa interface. Changes are uploaded to the GitHub repo.

Next: Might be a stretch but I’m looking into hosting/serving NomadNet page on the micropython Node 😁

Moreover, my laptop had received annoucenemtn over UDP from the lan and passed it over lora to the micropython Rnode (the RNH node name): I'll make some more tests and will upload the changes to the GitHub repo.
